Event date(s): Monday 16th September 2013  –  Friday 20th September 2013

Location: Vienna, Austria

The 2013 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference together with the 19th American Meteorological Society Satellite Meteorology, Oceanography, and Climatology Conference will be held from 16 - 20 September 2013 in Vienna, Austria.

At this conference there will be a session on Satellite-based observations of the oceans. This session definitely wants to highlight the operational use of the ocean observations.

First announcement and more information can be found here. Deadline for abstract submission is 18 February 2013.

The overarching theme of the conference will be water vapour, clouds, and precipitation, and the use of current and planned Earth observation systems to improve our understanding and adequately monitor, trends and variability in the global hydrological system.

One session will cover Satellite-based observations of the oceans. This session highlights the operational use of the ocean observations.

This event will build on the success of a similar joint venture held in Amsterdam in 2007. The conference will be accommodated in the historic Hofburg Palace, the winter residence of the Imperial Family. The European meteorological satellite organisation and the American Meteorological Society will be supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Austria’s national weather service, the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) and the European Meteorological Society (EMS).
