This is a Special Issue of the Quaterly Mercator Ocean Newsletter which is going to be published once a year with a common editorial line from the Mercator Ocean Forecasting Center in Toulouse and the Coriolis Infrastructure in Brest by Laurence Crosnier and Sylvie Pouliquen, Editors. Some papers are dedicated to Ocean Observations only, while others display collaborations between Observations and Modelling/Data assimilation.
