Publication of GODAE OceanView work plan

Date added: Monday 28th February 2011

The GODAE OceanView Work Plan can now be viewed and downloaded from this website.

Operational Oceanography faces many challenges with time scales ranging from weather to climate. This is inherently an international issue, requiring broad collaboration to span the global oceans and it is beyond the capability of any one country. GODAE OceanView will promote the development of ocean modelling and assimilation in a consistent framework to optimize mutual progress and benefit, will promote the associated exploitation of improved ocean analyses and forecasts and will provide a means to assess the relative contributions of and requirements for ocean observing systems, and their respective priorities.

We believe GODAE OceanView will result in the long-term international collaboration and cooperation required for the next, sustained, phase of operational oceanography. GODAE OceanView has received wide support from the international community. Based on these inputs this work-plan has been developed.

The main chapters contain a descriptive summary of the work undertaken by the GODAE OceanView Science Team:

  • Science team, task teams and the Patrons' Group
  • GODAE OceanView ocean forecasting systems work plans (at national level)
  • Work plans of the GODAE Ocean View Task Teams
  • Work plan of the GODAE OceanView project office
  • Summary of work plans with reagrds to capacity building, education and outreach
