Update of GODAE OceanView Work plan 2012

Date added: Monday 30th April 2012

The latest update of the GODAE OceanView Work Plan can now be viewed and downloaded from this website.

Operational Oceanography faces many challenges with time scales ranging from weather to climate. This is inherently an international issue, requiring broad collaboration to span the global oceans and it is beyond the capability of any one country. GODAE OceanView will promote the development of ocean modelling and assimilation in a consistent framework to optimize mutual progress and benefit, will promote the associated exploitation of improved ocean analyses and forecasts and will provide a means to assess the relative contributions of and requirements for ocean observing systems, and their respective priorities.

We believe GODAE OceanView will result in the long-term international collaboration and cooperation required for the next, sustained, phase of operational oceanography. GODAE OceanView has received wide support from the international community. Based on these inputs this work-plan has been developed.

The main updates include:

  • updates by co-chairs in top level paragraphs
  • revised work plans of the GODAE OceanView Task Teams
  • national group update (incl. NOAA, incl. RTOFS, GODAS and OFS)
  • additions to project office section on communicaiton
  • addtion to outreach section on communication
