Baltimore Hilton
Hilton conference

Venue & directions

The Symposium Venue has changed and is now the Baltimore Hilton Hotel, 401 West Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, USA. It is located in the Baltimore Inner Harbour Area and has excellent proximity to train stations, the Baltimore Aquarium and other hotel and restaurant in Baltimore downtown.

Meals & dinner

Lunches & breaks - Every day we will be offering a continental breakfast, lunches and afternoon tea/coffees.

Ice-breaker & dinner - On Monday evening (4 November) we are organising a special event for all participants, including a short ice-breaker followed by the symposium dinner. This event will take place at the Baltimore Aquarium and will allow us to visit the exhibits and watch the dolphins. Due to the close proximity of the new venue to the Baltimore Aquarium we will not need buses for the transfer.

Aquarium dinner information is now available for download and includes details about times, location, directions, public transport and parking.

Accommodation is available through the Hilton Baltimore. We have agreed a room rate of $131 per person for those taking part in the GOV Symposium. To reserve a room  you will need to directly contact the hotel. We will provide a code by email asap that will allow you the book at the agreed price.

Please note that the rooms have to be booked by 24 October 2013.

There are other hotels in the area (walking distance) which should allow easy access to the event. Please see map of hotels here.

You are likley to travel to either (Washington Dulles International Airport or Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport:

BWI (Thurgood Marshall) is outside Baltimore and is the closest internationa ariport to the Symposium venue. BWI does not have as many international connections as Dulles, but e.g. there is a daily British Airways flight to Heathrow from BWI.

Dulles (IAD) is in Virginia and further away from the symposium venue.

Transfer from Dulles Airport

- shared van Super Shuttle $150 one way to Downtown Baltimore.

Transfer from BWI Airport

- shared van Super Shuttle $14 one way to Downtown Baltimore.

Regards transfer from Dulles airport to Baltimore there are different options:

Shuttles: there is the “Super shuttle”. They will charge $150 for a one-way transfer from Dulles to Baltimore central. You can book them in advance, please check http://www.supershuttle.com/Locations/IADAirportShuttleWashington.aspx. I have used them when for getting from Baltimore airport to the NCWCP in April and this worked really well.

Train: There is a rather cheap connection between Washington and Baltimore by train (http://mta.maryland.gov/marc-train). The trip from Washington Union station to Baltimore Camden station (one-way) costs you only $7 but only operates on weekdays during working hours.

Another train connection is provided by AMTRAK, (enter the stations "Washington Union Street" and "Blatimore Penn Street" to get a schedule & quote.
