OSEval-TT Workshop (co-located with E-AIMS & CLIVAR/GSOP)

Meeting dates

The event is organised in two meetings, with the E-AIMS meeting only open to invited attendees. The workshop will be hosted by CLS, Toulouse, France. CLS is world leading in satellite-based environmental date collection and ocean observations by satellite. CLS is a CNES subsidiary which operates and/or processes data from more than 80 instruments on board of nearly 40 satellites.

Registration fee collection (for OSEval-TT workshop)

A workshop registration fee of €75.00 will be collected on-site at registration .

Payments can be made in cash, cheque or credit card. The fee will cover costs for breaks & lunches as well as the cocktail reception on day 1. The cost for a guest(s) to participate in the cocktail reception has been agreed to be €15.00 and if applicable will also have to be paid for at registration.

Registration will stay open until 21 November 2014.

Acceptance of invited abstracts (for OSEval-TT workshop)

Accommodation and local information

Venue

CLS is located to the south-east of Toulouse in the Parc Technologique du Canal (see map on the right) and can be easily reached by the Metro from Toulouse downtown (there is a shuttle bus from the metro station to CLS every 15 minutes, total travel time from city center to CLS is ca. 30 minutes, including metro + bus shuttle 7 minutes).

We would suggest that you stay downtown and find a hotel near the city centre.

The Metro station for CLS is "Ramonville" (terminus of line B), bus shuttle (navette in french) number is 111, and can be taken just outside the metro station, stop is "Hermès".

We have decided not to offer a hotel room block booking, since there are plenty of hotels in Toulouse at affordable prices. You should have no problems to finding a hotel that suits you. Please find below a list of recommend hotel.

Getting around in Toulouse & reach CLS in Ramonville St Agne

Toulouse is France’s sixth largest city, located in the south-west and can be reached via the Blagnac International Airport. From there it is a short distance to Toulouse center.

1. Blagnac airport

City centre bus line The shuttle “Air France bus” leaves every 20 minutes from Blagnac Airport and from the Matabiau train station (Central Toulouse).

Tickets cost >Single fare: 5,00 € (valid for 3 transfers across 3 different lines for a period of 1 h 30). Toulouse has a well developed public transport system with underground, buses, airpot shuttles and even a bike sharing scheme. 2. Access to CLS

From Toulouse centre, take the metro at Jean-Jaures station line "B", direction Ramonville and stop at the terminus station (around 30 min). Use the shuttle bus N° 111 to reach “Parc technologique du Canal”, 11 rue Hermès (it leaves every 15 min and it takes 5 min)

Taking a taxi directly to CLS from the city centre costs between 20-30 Euros. The address is

3. Metro Network

Many hotels are in Toulouse Centre and located along the lines A & B. You can buy tickets in the metro stations. Tickets allow you to travel in the metro or on the bus with a maximum of 3 connections within 1 hour 30 min.

Invitation

The main goal of the Observing System Evaluation Task Team (OSEval-TT) under GODAE OceanView is the provision of ongoing demonstrations of the impacts of observations on global and regional ocean forecast and analysis systems.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on ocean system experiments. The workshop is intended to be a mix of oral presentations, open discussion, and poster presentations and will be jointly organised with CLIVAR/GSOP and the E-AIMS FP-7 European project.

The workshop will be hosted by CLS, Toulouse, France. CLS is world leading in satellite-based environmental date collection and ocean observations by satellite. CLS is a CNES subsidiary which operates and/or processes data from more than 80 instruments on board of nearly 40 satellites.

  • The deadline for abstract submissions is 12 September 2014.
  • The date for acceptance notification to authors is planned to be 17 October 2014.
  • The deadline for registration is the 31 October 2014.

We would like to warmly invite the following groups/individuals to attend the OSEval-TT workshop (this excludes the E-AIMS meeting):

  • All OSEval-TT members or substitutes
  • Representatives from the GODAE OceanView Science Team and the GOV Patrons' Group
  • Representatives from E-AIMS and GSOP/CLIVAR
  • Representatives from observational agencies (remote and in-situ)
  • Participants from the previous workshop

Call for papers for the OSeval-TT workshop

The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on ocean system experiments and to review the ongoing activities and results on the impact of global and regional ocean observing system for short-range forecasting, seasonal to decadal forecasting and reanalyses obtained since the GOV symposium by GOV and CLIVAR GSOP groups.
