PRE - ANNOUNCEMENT

GODAE OceanView Coastal and Shelf Seas Task Team (COSS-TT)

International CoordinationWorkshop 2 (COSS-ICW2)

Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC)

Lecce, Italy

4 - 7 February 2013

We would like to pre-announce the second International Coordination Workshop of the GODAE OceanView Coastal Oceans and Shelf Seas Task Team (COSS-TT), which will be held at the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici (CMCC) in Lecce, Southern Italy on February 4-7, 2013.

This second installment follows the first workshop held at the University of Miami on January 10-12, 2012 (https://www.godae-oceanview.org/outreach/meetings-workshops/coss-tt-workshop/).

COSS Task Team members or substitutes, COSS community members (typically, attendees of the Miami workshop), and interested members of the regional/coastal ocean monitoring and forecasting communities are expected to attend.

Lecce is a wonderful venue in south Italy, see http://goitaly.about.com/od/pugliaapulia/a/lecce.htm. CMCC is an Italian network of centers and in Lecce there is a new group dedicated to Coastal Operational Oceanography and Climate Change Impacts (for a preliminary web site see http://www.cmcc.it/blog-en/online-il-sito-di-tessa/ ).

Detailed information about traveling to Lecce, accommodations, as well as a preliminary agenda and call for papers will be circulated with the first announcement to be sent by late Sept/early Oct.

The main goal of the Coastal Ocean and Shelf Seas Task Team (COSS-TT) is to work in coordination with GOV-ST and GOOS towards the provision of a sound scientific basis for sustainable multidisciplinary downscaling and forecasting activities in the world coastal oceans. The strategic goal of the TT is to help achieve a truly seamless framework from the global to the coastal/littoral scale.

This information is also available from the COSS-ICW2 pages on the GODAE OceanView website .
