The Data Assimilation-Task Team (DA-TT) fosters the development and evaluation of data assimilation systems relevant to OceanPredict to support the coordination of the fundamental and challenging issues in the ocean forecasting process, of which data assimilation is a significant part.

Meeting objectives:

  • To provide an update on the latest developments and challenges in ocean and coupled data assimilation.
  • To share experiences in the development of data assimilation from the underlying algorithms to the details of implementation in operational forecasting systems.

Meeting format:

  • A 3-day meeting with 30-40 scientists comprised of DA-TT members and other experts.
  • Mostly plenary sessions, with the possibility to hold a few break-out sessions.
  • Posters on display throughout the workshop.
  • Cerfacs have kindly agreed to cover the local costs of the meeting, including coffee, lunches and a dinner. Participants are expected to cover their own travel, accommodation and expenses.

Presentations on any aspect of ocean or coupled data assimilation are welcome. We particularly encourage submissions on the following themes:

  • Data assimilation system developments: global, regional and coastal
  • Ensembles: their generation, assessment, and use in ocean data assimilation
  • Algorithm development in support of data assimilation
  • Hybrid data assimilation methods
  • Coupled data assimilation
  • Use of novel observations and improved use of existing observations

  • 13th Sep 2019: Call for abstracts and open registration.
  • 1st Nov 2019: Abstract deadline.
  • 30th Nov 2019: Abstract selection and agenda completed.
