GODAE OceanView – 1st Data Assimilation Task Team (DA-TT) Workshop

Many thanks for registering for the DA-TT workshop, 20-22 May 2015 at the Met Office.

Agenda: We have now finalised the agenda which is available from the GOV website: https://www.godae-oceanview.org/outreach/meetings-workshops/task-team-meetings/da-tt-workshop-2015/agenda/

Workshop fee : We have been able to reduce the registration fee to £45. We would like to ask you now to use the following bank details to transfer the £45 to the Met Office account. When paying the fee please provide a reference, e.g.: "IntitialSurname-DATT-WS" (e.g. ASmith-DATT-WS). Please do this by Friday this week.

If you need to pay the fee in cash you can do this at workshop registration (receipt will be provided).

Lunches/ breaks (included in workshop fee): During the workshop we will be offering food and drink (at break and lunchtimes) to all participants outside our meeting room (“conference 2”). There will also be coffee and tea available at registration before we start the workshop.

Dinner: Participation in the workshop dinner (Thursday, 21 May, 19:30) is optional and those who would like to take part have already confirmed their interest with their registration. We will collect your contribution of £30 for a 3-course meal (slightly reduced a la carte menu) and additional drink at registration (receipt will be provided). The Cosy Club (our dinner venue) is located near the Exeter city centre. Transport information will be provided on-site.

The list of dinner guests is attached. Please check and let me know by tomorrow whether you would like to change your participation (either to be added to the dinner in case you are not, or to be taken off the list). If I do not hear from you I will assume you are happy with the current arrangements.

Passport: When coming to register for the workshop at the Met Office please bring along your passport. Met Office security will need to check your ID against the participation list to allow you access.

Agenda: Please find the latest agenda for the DA-TT workshop attached.

Session chairs: The agenda includes suggestions for who can chair the workshop sessions. We hope that those assigned as session chairs will be happy to help us in this, otherwise please let us know.

Remote participation: We are investigating ways to allow remote participation, e.g. via webex or similar. If you are interested in this option please let us know.

The Workshop registration deadline has been extended to 8 May 2015. To register please complete the workshop registration form.

Registration fee: To support the running of the workshop we need to ask all participants to pay a workshop registration fee in the range of £70-75 (amount to be confirmed). The fee will cover costs for breaks and lunches as well as poster boards. The fee can be paid by bank transfer or on-site in cash. Please see details on the workshop registration page.

Directions: To find out how to find the Met Office please visit the Directions page on the Met Office website.

Accommodation: Accommodation in Exeter is available either close to the Met Office (walking distance) or in the Exeter City Centre (recommended) where you will also have access to good public transport, restaurants and bars. Information about hotels can be found on theMet Office and GOV website.

REGISTRATION & ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

GODAE OceanView – 1st Data Assimilation Task Team (DA-TT) Workshop

First workshop of the GODAE OceanView Data Assimilation Task Team

Met Office, Exeter, UK

20-22 May 2015

 

This workshop aims to review the current status of ocean data assimilation in operational and near real-time systems, to provide a forum for discussion of developments in ocean data assimilation (subjects of particular interest include hybrid DA, coupled DA and observation impact assessment methodology) and to coordinate the activities of the DA-TT.

Registration for the workshop is now open (03 March 2015). To register please complete the workshop registration form , which will also allow the submission of abstracts.

Registration fee: To support the running of the workshop we need to ask all participants to pay a workshop registration fee in the range of £70-75 (amount to be confirmed). The fee will cover costs for breaks and lunches as well as poster boards. The fee can be paid by bank transfer or on-site in cash. Payments do not need to be made at registration. Bank details will be provided very soon.

Attendance: We particularly invite members of the Data Assimilation Task or their substitutes, but would also like to encourage participation from representatives from the GOV Science Team, Task Team co-chairs & members and the GOV Patrons' Group, and other DA experts not directly involved in GOV.

Call for abstracts: Please submit your abstract (abstract title) with the registration form and assign it to one of the session themes (please add relevant number(s) into form.

The deadline for abstract submissions is the 25 March 2015.

The deadline for registration is the 24 April 2015.
