Call for papers & abstract submission for the DA-TT workshop (20-22 May 2015)

The Data Assimilation-Task Team (DA-TT) will foster the development and evaluation of data assimilation systems relevant to GOV to support the coordination of the fundamental and challenging issues in the ocean forecasting process, of which data assimilation is a significant part. The purpose of this workshop is to review the current status of ocean data assimilation in operational and near real-time systems, to provide a forum for discussion of developments in ocean data assimilation (subjects of particular interest include hybrid DA, coupled DA and observation impact assessment methodology) and to coordinate the activities of the DA-TT.

The workshop is intended to be a mix of oral presentations, open discussion, and poster presentations.

The workshop organisers invite contributions to the workshop in the form of

  • Oral presentation
  • Poster presentation
The abstract submissions is now closed.

Oral or poster presentations are expected to relate to the categories 1-7 below. For each abstract you like to submit, please give at least one category, and whether your presentations preference would be Oral or Poster.

Abstracts can be submitted via the workshop registration pages.

To support the running of the workshop we need to ask all participants to pay a workshop registration fee of £70. The fee will cover costs for breaks and lunches as well as poster boards. The fee can be paid by bank transfer or on-site in cash.

Registration deadline is the 24 April 2015.

Places are limited so early registration is recommended. Fee payments will be arranged closer to the meeting.

Participation is invited from

  • DA-TT members or substitutes
  • Representatives from the GOV Science Team, Task Team co-chairs & members and the GOV Patrons' Group
  • DA experts not directly involved in GOV are also invited to attend

 

Dinner & tour

We are planning a dinner for all participants to be organised on a self-pay basis (please indicate your interest in taken part on the registration form).  The costs will be in the range of £30 per person, including a drink. Payment for the dinner will be collected in cash at workshop registration on-site.

We are also plannning to provide a tour of the Met Office for all who are interested (please indicate interest on the registration form).
